The Tradition of Sharing

Every year since my husband and I got married, 11 years ago now, we have made an assortment of Christmas cookies and put them in baggies and passed them out to all of our neighbors. We first lived in an apartment for 2 years and this was a great way to get to know our neighbors better! We usually wrote a simple message about the meaning of Christmas and put it in the bags with the cookies.

As we have added children to our family and moved, this has given us more opportunities to teach our kids how to serve our neighbors and present the light of Jesus to them. Our kids have loved making all the different cookies (and also eating them!), and then going to each neighbor’s house and delivering them. It has often resulted in us going out 2 nights because we stay so long at each house talking, but it has been such a sweet tradition to do with our family! We have had some opportunities to pray with neighbors, and it has really been fruitful! We pray you all have a blessed Christmas and find ways to share the hope of Christmas with those around you!

“And do not forget to do good and to share with others,

for with such sacrifices God is pleased.”

Hebrews 13:16
